The Stewards, along with the Pastor, are responsible for the Spiritual well-being of the church. The Board of Stewards serves as the Pastor’s cabinet and is the highest appointed office in the church. Stewards are the spiritual managers of the church and are concerned about the spiritual welfare of the church. The officers accurately register all conversions, baptisms, marriages, births and deaths as well as record all contributions made by members of the church. Members of the Steward Board are appointed by the Pastor and are subject to confirmation of the Quarterly Conference.
The Stewardess Board is composed of a dedicated group of Christian women selected by the Pastor and the Stewards to serve the church by preparing the elements of Holy Communion, Baptism and by assisting in the reception of new members into the church. They care for the altar through cleaning and changing the altar garments.
Trustees are elected annually by members of the church. The Pastor of the
church nominates the people required to be elected. The Pastor is chairperson of the Board of Trustees, and his signature is required to make acts of the Board legal. Trustees must be watchful and responsive to all temporal affairs of the church such as heat, light, gas, insurance, mortgages. They manage and make repairs to the church building, real estate, parsonages, and any other properties, which the church may own when authorized by a majority of the legal members of the church. Trustees provide for the pastor and his family by securing a house for them by purchase or lease, furnishing it, and paying moving expenses. God’s house is entrusted to the hands of the Trustees. Their service is considered an honor and should bring to the position a sense of deep responsibility to act efficiently and with dispatch when the need arises.
All persons except members of the clergy are lay persons. All members are encouraged to join the Lay Organization. The organization encourages the laity to support and participate in church programs. They stimulate and educate the laity on church history, development and organic laws of the African Methodist Episcopal Church.
The church choirs, under the direction of the musician, strive to strengthen the worship service through song. The choirs sing during regular worship services and for special events as outlined in the church calendar or at the call of the Pastor. Their mission is to provide impactful and melodious musical messages including Contemporary Gospel Music, Negro Spirituals and Traditional Classics of our rich gospel history. Choir rehearsals are mandatory to provide quality service to the congregation.
The CED is to undergird all other auxiliaries of the A.M.E. church by building and strengthening a foundation of resources to increase their faith Christ, so that its members can competently stand as ambassadors of the Kingdom of God in this world. The Book of Discipline charges the Department of Christian Education with responsibility for “Developing standards, preparing programs, offering classes, teaching Christian education, publishing material, training people for pastoral ministry
and other church vocations” in accordance with the tradition and doctrine of the African Methodist Episcopal Church. This department makes careful study of the Christian educational needs of the church and administers programs for special activities such as: Easter and Christmas programs; Black History presentations; Church School Promotion; Founders Day; Vacation Bible School; Educational and Spiritual Workshops and Training; as well as many other activities that enhance the Church as a whole. The Pastor appoints members to the Board of Christian Education.
The Church School seeks to teach all of the students the Word of God and to be faithful and obedient to it. Students receive a strong Christian foundation from the instruction they receive from the committed Church School teachers under the leadership of the Church School Superintendent. All are welcome to share in this Christian fellowship. The Church School is our primary vehicle for Christian Education.
The ushers (God’s Doorkeepers) play an essential role in each worship service. Their responsibilities include greeting each worshipper entering the service, assist in seat location as well as assisting the Pastor and Officers in the maintenance of order and continuity during the service.
The Missionary Society is the primary outreach organization of the church. The Society develops ways and means of spreading the Gospel through acts of mission concern. Participate in the ministry of the organization beyond its congregation(s) and know its community and partner with agencies to provide needed service to the community. The Outreach Ministry shall provide emotional, spiritual and physical needs to individuals
and families within the community that are struggling to survive. This ministry will help to provide resources and finances for families in need.
The Young People’s and Children’s Division of the Women’s Missionary Society (YPD) sponsors activities to enable our young people to grow spiritually and in knowledge of the church. They provide meaningful youth programs in all areas of church life and involve all youth in the total mission of the church. The ages are 2-26 years old. All young people of the church should be members of YPD.
A Class Leader mission is to get to know members assigned to his / her class. To be aware of their attendance, their welfare, keep the pastor informed when and if there is a need that the pastor should be aware of. Make hospital and or home visits when members are ill. Keep members informed of the activities of the church when they are absent from church. Class members should know how to get in touch with his or her Class Leader. Class Leaders are appointed by the Pastor.
This committee raises funds for programs and activities to promote academic achievement among our youth. Limited scholarships assistance will be provided to youth who have been accepted to college. Special public recognition is given each marking period to students to recognize their academic achievements.
The Son’s of Allen is the men’s organization of the Church. They work to build Christian responsibility in men of the church and community, as well as work to serve as mentors and role models for young men and boys of the church. Workshops, activities and seminars will be presented to give our young men helpful information in the areas of peer pressure, etiquette, social skills, current events and other critical matters that will help them to mature into productive Christian men.
The Young Adult Ministry is comprised of members of the congregation between the ages of 18 and 40. Their mission is to seek to minister to the spiritual, social, career, and community needs of young adults; and to undertake projects in and outside the church to present and draw young adults to Christ.
The DMC provides a very rigid training program where young people will have the opportunity to participate in class curriculum such as values, self-esteem, charm, health and wellness, know your church activities, and many communities outreach and fund-raising projects. Ages are 6-12 (Allenites), 13-16 (Sub Debs & Sub Masters), and 16-22 (Debutantes and Masters).
The Hospitality Committee is designed to welcome visitors to the church, visit the sick and lonely, and care for the bereaved of the church and community. They provide flowers and/or gifts in acknowledgement of illness, deaths, and birthdays.
The Historiography Committee is responsible for maintaining an annual written and pictorial history of the life and work of Felderville A.M.E. Church. Provides a detailed report on the history of the church and keeps an updated statistical report on membership. This committee will also plan and organize the church anniversary service under the direction of the stewards and the pastor.
The pastor’s aide board provides support to the pastor as needed.
The Administrative Support shall provide all administrative support to the pastor and for the church, to include office support, database entry, general office management and record keeping.
Our mission is to reach, teach, and train youth to: Honor God and Authority, discover their Gifts and Talents, make positive connections, Respect everyone, especially peers, and to Grow for God’s Glory. Monologues and Skits based on biblical characters and beliefs of Christianity.
The Media Ministry are responsible for managing the audio-visual setup for all church events, ensuring that the sound and video quality are optimal for both in-person attendees and those joining virtually. The Media Ministry also plays a pivotal role in maintaining the church's social media presence, sharing live streams of services, and promoting upcoming events through various online platforms.
Felderville Bereavement Ministry provides critical support to individuals, families, and the broader community by fostering a compassionate and healing environment. The ministries mission is to guide those processing different forms of grief through the coping activities.
Felderville AMEC Health Ministry is dedicated to nurturing the whole person (body, mind, and spirit) through compassionate care, wellness education, and prayerful support.
